Wall Lamp “Triple Sloping Block”

Created in 1923, the Sloping Block wall lamp is a definitive example of Pierre Chareau’s minimalist mastery.

Predating his architectural masterpiece, the Maison de Verre, this design features a rigorous geometric form and simple volume that beautifully highlights the raw, mineral quality of alabaster.

Chareau’s visionary approach is expressed through the striking contrast between industrial black metal and ethereal white alabaster. This interplay of materials reflects the poetic modernity he brought to interior spaces and the distinctive design language that defined his role in the Union des Artistes Modernes.

Like the playful Mouche lamp, the Sloping Block stands as a landmark of 20th-century design, demonstrating how even the most functional objects can be elevated to the level of fine art.
