Created in 1923, the Sloping Block wall lamp is a definitive example of Pierre Chareau’s minimalist mastery. Predating his architectural masterpiece, the Maison de Verre, this design exhibits a rigorous geometric shape and a simple volume that perfectly highlights the raw, mineral quality of alabaster.
Chareau’s visionary approach is beautifully captured in the striking contrast between the industrial black metal and the ethereal white alabaster. This interplay of materials reflects the “poetic modernity” he brought to interior spaces—a signature style that defined his role in the Union des Artistes Modernes.
